Modernization of police dept: State govt to sanction Rs 100 cr
Bengaluru, 28 Nov 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The Karnataka state government had decided to sanctioned Rs 100 crore to the police department for its modernization. Speaking after inaugurating the building of the Forensic Science Laboratory and laying the foundation stone for the Police Samudaya Bhavan Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said, Modernisation of the police department is very important inorder to keep pace with the changing times. “In the coming budget, the government will allocate Rs 100 crore to modernize the police department by using the latest technologies,” he said, adding that it will help strengthen the police in investigating crimes effectively. K’taka govt likely to cancel summer vacations
Bengaluru, 15 Dec 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The Department of Public Instruction is considering cancelling the summer vacation for the current academic year as the State government is likely to decide on the reopening of schools soon. An official informed that the academic year may officially begin in January. The shortened syllabus will have to be completed between January and July, hence the cancel the summer vacations. “No classes were conducted this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Preparations have already been done on the revised syllabus pending the final decision. Dakshina Kannada temporarily ban supply of poultry from Kerala
Bengaluru, 09 Jan 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Owing to the spread of bird flu in Kerala, the Dakshina Kannada district administration banned transportation of poultry from the state temporarily. The Deputy Commissioner of the district, K V Rajendra directed in a notification that the vehicles transporting poultry to Kerala should be disinfected while re-entering the district after offloading. He added that this is being enforced as a precautionary measure since bird flu (H5N8) is being reported in Kerala. He assured that the departments of health and animal husbandry are taking adequate measures and that people don’t have to panic.
