UAE: Prof UT Iftikar Ali honored with international award at 'Thumbay Conference'

Mangaluru, 11 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Mangaluru-based physiotherapist and social activist Prof UT Iftikar Ali was awarded an international award for his contributions to the field of physiotherapy, at an international conference held at Ajman at United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday.

Dubai Health Authority chairman and Director General  Humaid Al Qutami presented the award to Prof Iftikar. Physiotherapists from across the globe participated in the conference and received the awards. Prof Iftikar is the only physiotherapist from India who received the award.

Thumbay Group Founder President Dr Thumbay Moidin  presided over the conference organized by the Thumbay Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Hospital at Thumbay Medicity inAjman. Indian Ambassador to UAE Navadeep Singh Suri, Ambassador of Italy  Liborio Stellino , Italian Consul General  Ms. ValentinaSetta , ICC Chief Executive  Dave Richardson and Pakistan former cricketer Wasim Akram were the chief guests on the occasion.

Prof UT Iftikar Ali, brother of Urban Development and Housing Minister UT Khader, has carved a niche for himself in health, social and educational fields. He is the Dean at the MV Shetty Physiotherapy College in Mangaluru and also worked as the Senate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences .

Currently, he is the Executive committee member of the National Physiotherapists Association and State Physiotherapy Teachers Association Chairman. He is also the president of the UT Fareed Foundation. He is in close association with prestigious hospitals and medical institutions in Mangaluru, Bengaluru, New Delhi and other countries and involved in various educational and charity activities.

His wife Dr Anjum Iftikar studying in the final year at AIMS,Cochin is the first woman from Mangaluru to do higher studies in Gynaecology (Onco).
