Gangolli, 11 Dec 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Additional District and Sessions Court on Monday sentenced two persons to seven years rigorous imprisonment on charges of setting ablaze to shops and vehicles at Gangolli three years ago. The convicted have been identified as Muhammad Junaid and Welding Jaffer. The convicted had set ablaze to Venkateshwara Stores, shop godown belonging to Venkatesh Shenoy and a car parked in front of the house in Gangolli police station limits on Jan 21, 2015, and fled the scene. Investigating team led by Byndoor circle inspector Sudarshan arrested the accused. Gangolli police registered a case and submitted the charge sheet. Conducting the trials, judge Prakash Khandre convicted the accused on December 5 and announced the quantum of punishment on December 10. As per the punishment, the convicted

According to a report in Mathrubhumi, the individuals, belonging to state’s Kannur district, consisted of two families from Azhikode and Poothappara and a man from Kuruva. Citing Kerala Police sources, Times Now channel reported that the 10 people left to join the Islamic State in Afghanistan and Syria.
