IMA jewels fraud: Five more directors held
Bengaluru, 22 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Special Investigation team on Friday, June 21 arrested five more directors of IMA Group of Companies. The arrested are Shadab Ahmed (28), Israr Ahmed (32), Fuzail Ahmed (30), Mohammed Idrees (30) and Usman (33). The SIT has arrested a total of 13 people in the case so far as its efforts to trace the owner of the company Mansoor Khan continues. On June 12, seven directors were arrested by the police. The seven were picked up from different locations, highly-placed and the custody of seven arrested directors was given to the SIT, sources in the police told had informed. The seven accused directors are – Nizamuddin, Nasir Hussain, Naveed Ahmed, Arshad Khan, Wasim, Ansar Pasha and Dada Peer. State govt to bifurcate Ballari to create new district
Bengaluru, 21 Sep 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Karnataka government has proposed to create new Vijayanagara district by carving out six taluks from the existing Ballari district. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has asked the Chief Secretary to place the proposal before the next cabinet meeting, official sources said on Thursday. Once approved, Vijayanagara will become the 31st district in the state. Anand Singh, one of the 17 disqualified MLAs whose rebellion led to the fall of the previous H D Kumaraswamy-led government, had cited the demand for a separate Vijayanagara district as one of the reasons for his resignation from Congress. ‘In-the-box’ idea: Cardboard boxes to prevent students from copying
Haveri, 19 Oct 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: A private college in Haveri came out with a unique ‘in-the-box’ idea to prevent its students from cheating during the mid-term examinations. Over 50 students of Bhagat Pre-University College wer made to wear cardboard boxes to prevent them from copying during the exams held on Wednesday. The incident came to light after a photo of the students wearing the cartons was posted on social media by a member of the college management with the caption: “It’s our college midterm exam today. That is Bhagat PU College, Haveri.” According to the college management, students had been intimated in advance that they would be given boxes that would have to be worn by them while writing the exam.
