Udupi Karavali underpass opened for traffic
Udupi, 27 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The vehicle underpass at the Karavali Junction on National Highway 66 was opened to traffic on trial on Oct 26, Friday. A long-pending demand of the people of the temple town is near solution. This underpass road connects Mangaluru with Kundapur at Karavali Junction is 800 metres long. This is a six-lane road with a divider in between. The road on both the right and the left side of the divider is 11 metres wide. Below the underpass are two boxes of 10.5 metre width. These two boxes have been constructed to connect Udupi with Malpe, which is now part of the Malpe-Tirthahalli National Highway 169A, which is under construction here. Karnataka cadre poll observer checks PM Modi's convoy, gets suspended by EC
Bengaluru, 18 Apr 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The Election Commission has suspended one of its observers for Sambalpur for violating its instructions that SPG protectees should not be checked. Though official word from either the EC or the government is awaited, media reports stated that general observer Mohammed Mohsin had tried to check some luggage in the convoy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 16, the day the PM addressed a rally in Sambalpur. Mohammed Mohsin is a Karnataka cadre IAS officer. An order issued by the EC stated that Mohammad Mohsin acted in violation of existing instructions of EC. "It has been laid down that SPG protectees are exempted from checking. He should have known the instruction being an observer. Women commit suicide after poisoning her two children
Bengaluru, 12 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: In a shocking incident, a mother committed suicide after reportedly poisoning her two children in Hebbal. The deceased is identified as Pushpavathi (30), a resident of Manorayanapalya. It is gathered that before committing suicide, Pushpavathi poisoned her two children Jeevan and a five-month-old infant. In her suicide note, Pushvathi mentioned that she took this extreme step due to poverty and hardship in her life.
