Bengaluru, 06 May 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday announced that package of Rs. 1610 crores will be released as COVID-19 financial package. “People are facing financial problems due to the lockdown, therefore, a package of Rs. 1610 crores will be released as COVID-19 financial package. One time compensation of Rs 5000 will be given to 230,000 barbers and 775,000 drivers,” announced Yediyurappa. He further added, “We have sent around 1 lakh people in 3500 buses and trains, back to their home towns. I have also appealed to the migrant workers to stay as the construction work has resumed now.” Yediyurappa also announced a hike in excise duty on liquor. Total excise duty on liquor in Karnataka now stands at 17%.
Read More...Bengaluru, 20 May 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: KSRTC began bus services to taluk headquarters and long routes, like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hubballi and other cities on Tuesday. Mangaluru KSRTC divisional controller S N Arun told DH that depending on the demand, the buses will be operated with 50% of the capacity. Steps had been taken to ensure that social distancing norms were adhered to while passengers purchased tickets from the counter. Around 40 buses operated in the division. The bus that left for Bengaluru had 29 passengers. KSRTC is yet to take a decision on operating ‘Nagarasarige’ buses in the city.
