RSS ideologue for removing ‘secular’ from Constitution preamble

New Delhi, 04 Jan 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: “Sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic” is how India is referred to in the preamble of the Constitution. However, J. Nandakumar, a key RSS leader and All India Convenor Prajna Pravah, a Sangh offshoot, wants India to reconsider the inclusion of the word “secular”, claiming secularism is a “western, Semitic concept”. 108 PFI members arrested in UP till now: DGP

New Delhi, 03 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Uttar Pradesh DGP Harish Chandra Awasthi and additional chief secretary home, Avanish Awasthi, claimed in a joint press conference here on Monday that the UP police have arrested 108 members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in the last four days for their alleged involvement in protests against the anti-citizenship law. The arrests are in addition to the 25 PFI members arrested earlier. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Kumar Awasthi told reporters that, “This is just the beginning. Judge who asked police to file FIR in Delhi violence transferred

New Delhi, 27 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The Centre on Wednesday night notified the transfer of Justice Dr S Muralidhar from Delhi High Court to Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Supreme Court collegium had recommended his transfer on February 12. The Delhi High Court Bar Association had protested against this transfer proposal by abstaining from work for a day last week. Justice Muralidhar is the third senior judge of Delhi High Court. Notably, on his last day as a judge of Delhi High Court, Justice Muralidhar had passed significant orders in matters concerning Delhi Riots.
