New Delhi, 27 April 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: In a time when Delhi government struggling to find donors for the Convalescent Plasma Therapy (that seems to be a ray of hope in fighting Covid-19 battle), CM Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to all people, regardless of religion, who have recovered from the coronavirus disease to come forward and donate plasma for serious Covid-19 patients.

The members of Tablighi Jamaat have become a ray of hope for such patients. Once dubbed as ‘Super Spreaders by a section of media have become’ Super Savers’ for the critically ill patients affected by Covid-19.

Sources in the Delhi Health Department have told that of 1,068 coronavirus positive Tablighis in Delhi hospitals, around 300 (who have recovered after testing double negative) have decided to donate plasma to severely ill patients in the capital.

When the Covid-19 broke out in March, a pre decided congregation of Tablighi Jamaat was held at its headquarters located in Delhi’s Nizamuddin Markaz in the national capital on March 23.

It’s said out of 23,000 Covid-19 positive cases in India, nearly a fifth are related to the religious gathering at the Markaz .

This led to some sections of the society severely criticising the minority community, and blaming them for the spread of the pandemic in the country. Since then, the community has faced a spate of violence, boycott and hate speeches, which has only worsened.

The offer of plazma by Tablighi members will definitely change the perceptions of Hindu masses about Tablighi people.

These Tablighi members are getting accolades on social media and people are calling them ‘Super Savers’ and ‘Super Heroes’.
