Plea in SC terms PIL against 1991 law on places of worship as ‘mischievous’

New Delhi, 21 Mar 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: An intervention application has been moved in the Supreme Court challenging a PIL against a law fixing August 15, 1947 as the cut-off date to maintain the character of a place of worship. The application moved by co-Mutawalli of the Teeley Wali Masjid, a 350 year old mosque in Lucknow   said the PIL filed by advocate Ashwini Upadhyay is “mischievous”, which aims at isolating the Muslim community as a separate category from the other major religious communities in India. On March 12, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Centre on a PIL challenging the validity of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, which barred litigation on any place of worship for change of its character as it existed in 1947. Mehbooba Mufti's mother's passport rejected following adverse police report

New Delhi, 30 Mar 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The passport application of Gulshan Nazir, wife of former Union home minister and two-time Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, has been rejected following an adverse police report. According to a letter sent to Nazir, who is the mother of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, the Regional Passport office informed her that the Jammu and Kashmir Police's CID department has not cleared her passport application under section 6 (2) (c) of the Passports Act. 3 Women Given Anti-rabies Vax Instead of Covid Jab in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi, 10 Apr 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: A probe has been ordered in the shocking incident in which three women were allegedly administered anti-rabies injections instead of the Covid vaccine at a government hospital in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. Three women — Saroj, 70, Anarkali, 72 and Satyavati, 60, — had gone to the government community health centre in Kandhla on Thursday to get vaccinated against the coronavirus. After the vaccination, the women were handed anti-rabies vaccine slips, which led to a protest by their family members at the facility.
