Prominent Citizens Call PM’s Silence over Haridwar Event a ‘Mockery of Indian Democracy’
New Delhi, 20 Jan 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: Artists, activists, lawyers and journalists among prominent citizens, including Naseeruddin Shah and Javed Akhtar, on Tuesday questioned the continued silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the genocidal calls given at Haridwar Dharam Sansad terming it a “mockery of Indian democracy” and “violation of Indian Constitution”. A statement released by Indian Muslims for Secular Democracy (IMSD) singed by 300 well-known personalities, read: “The PM’s silence speaks volumes, is nothing short of a mockery of Indian democracy, a violation of the Indian Constitution which the PM has sworn to uphold during his swearing-in. UP Elections: Tauqeer Raza Supports Congress But Daughter-in-law Joins BJP
New Delhi, 31 Jan 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: Nida Khan, daughter-in-law of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, well known cleric of Barelvi sect, has joined the BJP in Lucknow. This is yet another jolt to the Congress since the cleric had recently announced his support to the Congress. Nida said that she had joined the BJP because she was impressed with the working of the BJP government, particularly the law banning triple talaq. “This was turning point for me in supporting BJP. The triple talaq issue will be a game changer for the BJP, The Congress only gives slogan for women but has done nothing much for women,” she said. She said that her father-in-law had failed to stop exploitation of women in his own home. She said that she would campaign for the BJP and had not yet decided about contesting the elections.

Centre seeks report from Bengal on Ram Navami violence
New Delhi, 28 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday asked for a report from the West Bengal government on incidents of arson and violence during Ram Navami processions in the last two days, officials said. According to the Ministry, the Central government also offered assistance of paramilitary forces in the light of reports of continuing violence and tension in some districts of the state.
