UN envoy warns Taliban unable to thwart Daesh/ISIS in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, 18 Nov 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The Taliban has proven unable to prevent the growth of Daesh/ISIS' Afghanistan affiliate, the UN envoy for the war-torn nation warned Wednesday.  Deborah Lyons, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ special envoy, told the UN Security Council that the terrorist group has grown from being in only "a few provinces and Kabul" to now being present "in nearly all" of the country and is "increasingly active." She pointed to data that indicated the group has dramatically escalated attacks across the country from mid-August, when the Taliban were increasingly taking territory from the former internationally-recognized government. North Korea unhappy with US for mentioning human rights

Muhammad tops boys’ name rankings in UK

LONDON, 06 July 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: Muhammad is the most popular baby name for boys in the UK this year, a list compiled by online media company BabyCentre has revealed. Muslim names account for about 10 percent of all names in the top 100 rankings for both males and females, which were published in full by the Daily Mail. In addition to Muhammad, the top boys’ names also include Ali in 31st position, Yusuf (53rd), Ayaan (61st), Ahmad (63rd), Omar (72nd), Abdullah (77th), Abdul (84th), Ibrahim (92nd) and Syed (94th).
