46 Dead, 11 Reported Missing in Uttarakhand Flash Floods, Landslides

New Delhi, 21 Oct 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: As many as forty six persons have reportedly died and 11 are reported missing in the heavy rains leading to flash floods and landslides in several parts of Uttarakhand. Rescue and relief operations are still awaited in many remote areas and villages. Nainital, a major tourist destination, remains the worst-affected area in the state where 28 persons have reportedly died and several others are still missing. According to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Office, 28 people have reportedly died due to rain and landslides in Nainital district alone. VHP-Bajrang Dal Posters Warn Non-Hindus to Stay Away From Varanasi Ghats

New Delhi, 08 Jan 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: With the elections round the corner in Uttar Pradesh, the Hindutva brigade have come up with yet another antique to up the ante in the poll-bound state. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal supporters have put up posters all along the ghats (river banks) of Ganges in Varanasi sternly prohibiting non-Hindus from venturing near the river banks in the city. Some of the posters in Hindi made their way to the social media. Delhi Riots: HC Notice on Pleas Seeking Impleadment of Political Leaders for Alleged Hate Speeches

New Delhi, 01 Mar 2022 [Fik/News Sources]: The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice on pleas seeking impleadment of various politicians and others in order to ascertain as to whether they ought to be added as party respondents in the pleas seeking registration of FIRs against political leaders for alleged hate speeches during 2020 Delhi riots, reports LiveLaw. Hearing the impleadment applications filed by petitioners Shaikh Mujtaba and Lawyers Voice, a division bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anoop Kumar Mendiratta issued the notices. In the plea, petitioner Mujtaba sought impleadment of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Kapil Mishra, Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma, and Abhay Verma as respondents while Lawyers Voice sought impleadment of as many as 20 people.
