Bhainsa remains tense after overnight communal flare-up

New Delhi, 15 Jan 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Bhainsa, a town in Telangana’s former Adilabad district, remains tense following clashes for the last 48 hours between people of two communities. At least 19 people, including eight police personnel, were injured. Eighteen houses were set ablaze and 26 vehicles burnt in the violence. Section 144 has been imposed in Bhainsa. Internet has been suspended in Nirmal, Adilabad, Mancherial and Asifabad. The violence erupted on Sunday night after some residents of Bhainsa objected to the noise created by revving up of bikes without silencers by some young men. One community came in support of the bikers following which the situation spun out of control and the two communities began pelting stones against each other.  A huge police force was brought in to control the situation.

Will pass Assembly resolution against CAA: Mamata

New Delhi, 21 Jan 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The West Bengal government is planning to pass a resolution in the state Assembly against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the next three-four days, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday. Banerjee also appealed to other states, particularly those in the North-East, to pass such resolutions. “We have also passed a resolution against NRCA three months ago. We will pass a resolution against CAA also within three-four days,” Banerjee told mediapersons. The CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala and Congress ruled Punjab have already passed resolutions in the respective state assemblies demanding scrapping of the controversial CAA. Internet snapped in Kashmir on JKLF leader”s death anniv

New Delhi, 12 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Normal life was affected on Tuesday in Kashmir on the death anniversary of JKLF leader Maqbool Bhat. The authorities snapped 2G mobile and Internet services across Kashmir Valley and imposed mild curbs in parts of Srinagar. The train service in Kashmir Valley has also been suspended due to apprehension of law and order. Train services remained suspended for the longest period of time of almost 100 days due to revocation of Article 370 on August 5 last year, but subsequently the service was resumed on November 26, 2019.
