Supreme Court Allows Student Activists to Remain on Bail, But Disallows Any Precedent

New Delhi, 19 June 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay the Delhi High Court’s bail order and decided that student leaders Asif Iqbal Tanha, Natasha Narwal and Devangana Kalita will stay on bail and remain out of jail. However, the high court ruling granting bail to the trio will “not to be treated as precedent by any court” to give similar reliefs, a vacation bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and V Ramasubramanian said while hearing an appeal of the Delhi Police challenging the bail order. Tanha, Narwal and Kalita have been accused in the Delhi riots case and held under UAPA, or the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind appeals to non-Muslims not to send girls to co-ed schools

New Delhi, 31 Aug 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (JUH), Arshad Madani, has appealed to all non-Muslims not to send their daughters to co-educational schools to save them from ‘obscenity, while emphasising on schooling of girls in separate schools. In a press statement issued on Monday after the working committee meeting of the JUH, Madani said, “Immorality and obscenity is not a teaching of any religion. It has been condemned in every religion of the world because these are the things which spread misbehaviour in the society. Madhya Pradesh: Mob forces girl to take off burkha, shoots video; two men let off after warning

New Delhi, 17 Oct 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: A girl was forced to remove her burkha and face covering by a group of people in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday afternoon after suspecting that the man on whose scooter she was riding pillion was a Hindu, police said.
