Hegde sends reply to BJP leadership, denies charges against him

Bengaluru, 04 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde has written to the party leadership that he made no mention of Mahatma Gandhi in his speech, which has faced flak for its swipe at the Father of the Nation, and controversial remarks attributed to him are “incorrect”. BJP sources said Hegde sent a detailed reply to party president J P Nadda, and the party’s disciplinary committee, which issued him a show-cause notice to him on Monday, is studying its content before deciding its next course of action. Hegde has claimed he did not name Mahatma Gandhi nor did he insult him in his speech and news reports about his speech are “incorrect”. Pilikula Biological Park: Gaur calves, Black Swans and Hyenas are new arrivals

Mangaluru, 29 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Under an animal exchange programme, the Pilikula Biological Park at Moodushedde has received two Indian Gaur calves, four Black Swans and two Striped Hyenas from the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens at Mysuru. In return, the Park authorities have dispatched two Lesser Whistling Ducks, two Royal Bengal Tigers and four King Cobras to Mysuru. With the two new arrivals, the Indian Gaur numbers in the Park has increased to four informed Park Director, H J Jayaprakash Bhandary. The Black Bucks are available for public view while the Striped Hyenas are housed in an enclosure and will be made available for public viewing after they have adjusted to the new environment. White and Grey Rhea birds, two Swamp Deers, Oriental Darter and White Tiger will also be sent to the Park in the future

Uttara Kannada: How this district in Karnataka kept a firm grip on Covid-19

Bhatkal, 03 Apr 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: About two weeks ago, Bhatkal town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka flickered into the nation’s attention when three persons tested positive for COVID-19 in a span of two days. In subsequent days, five more tested positive, but effective steps taken by the district administration succeeded in curtailing the numbers and restricting the cases to Bhatkal town itself. Today, in terms of the district-wise daily growth rate of positive cases, Uttara Kannada district is among the three lowest. While the Karnataka average is 5.33 percent, Uttara Kannada's average is 2.59 per cent.
