Israel injures 55 journalists covering Gaza protests
GAZA, 04 Jun 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: At least 55 journalists covering ongoing protests on the Gaza Strip have been wounded by Israeli soldiers, the Gaza government said on Sunday. "The number of Israeli violations against journalists in the Palestinian lands, 55 of which took place in Gaza, has reached a total of 125," said a press statement. Emphasizing that the Israeli violations against journalists increased in May, it added: "Nine of the journalists were hit by live ammunition, eight with explosive bullet shrapnel, 17 with gas bombs directly fired towards them, while 21 others barely escaped suffocating and fainted." Over 200 migrants drown in 3 days in Mediterranean
GENEVA, 02 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: A total of 204 migrants died at sea off Libya this weekend while the total number of migrants who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea so far this year has crossed over 1,000, according to the UN migration agency, IOM, on Sunday. "From Friday to Sunday, close to 1,000 migrants were returned to Libyan shore by the Libyan Coast Guard, who intercepted small crafts as they made their way towards the open sea," IOM said in a statement. A small rubber boat packed with migrants had capsized off east of Tripoli; an estimated 41 people were rescued, IOM said. Three babies were among 103 migrants who died in a shipwreck on Friday. LONDON, 05 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Senior Tory member Sayeeda Warsi has called for an inquiry into allegations of Islamophobia in the Conservative party.
