Daesh claims suicide attack in southern Philippines

ANKARA, 02 Aug 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Daesh terror group claimed a suicide car bomb attack that killed 11 people in the island southern province of Basilan Tuesday, according to the military. According to initial reports, a van was intercepted at an army checkpoint manned by government militiamen in Bulanting village in Lamitan City. “A driver of a 10-seater van who looked like a foreigner and could not speak the local dialect was intercepted at Bulanting checkpoint,” Lamitan City Mayor Roderick Furigay said as quoted by Inquirer News. Furigay said the driver was held by government militiamen for further questioning while other members sought military backup when the vehicle suddenly exploded. EU's unemployment rate at 6.8 pct in July

ANKARA, 01 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The European Union's unemployment rate in July was 6.8 percent, the lowest figure recorded in the 28-member EU bloc since April 2008, according to an official data released on Friday. Eurostat said the EU28 unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage point on a monthly basis -- 6.9 percent in June -- and it went down 0.8 percentage point from 7.6 percent in the same month last year. The eurozone (EA19) unemployment rate was 8.2 percent last month, down from 9.1 percent in July 2017 -- the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since November 2008. "Eurostat estimates that 16.8 million men and women in the EU28, of whom 13.3 million in the euro area, were unemployed in July 2018," the statistical office said.
