Libyan warlord Haftar agrees to talks on ceasefire: UN

ANKARA, 02 June 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar has agreed to the resumption of ceasefire talks, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said early Tuesday. "The United Nations Mission welcomes the parties in Libya accepting the resumption of the Joint Military Commission 5+5 talks," UNSMIL said on Twitter. Israel urged to reverse Givat Hamatos settlement move

WASHINGTON, 19 Nov 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Six EU members of the UN Security Council urged Israel on Wednesday to reverse its decision to advance the construction of more than 1,000 settlement buildings in an area of the occupied West Bank. “We are deeply worried by the Israeli authorities’ decision to open the bidding process for the construction of housing units for an entirely new settlement at Givat Hamatos," Belgium, Estonia, France and Germany said in a statement regarding the key location between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. UN: Children increasingly exposed in Syria conflict

BEIRUT, 12 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Children are at more risk than ever in Syria’s devastating conflict, the United Nations said Monday as the war approached its eighth year. Twice as many children were killed in the war in 2017 than in the previous year, the UN children’s agency UNICEF said in a report. “In 2017, extreme and indiscriminate violence killed the highest ever number of children — 50 percent more than 2016,” it said, adding that 2018 was off to an even worse start. More than 200 children have been killed in bombardment of the rebel-held enclave of Eastern Ghouta by Syrian regime and allied forces since February, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
