Mangaluru, 03 Dec 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Members of various organisations, under the aegis of Gadinadu Rakshana Vedike, staged a protest against introduction of FASTag at Talapady tollgate. “The introduction of FASTag will deprive the local residents of exemption from paying toll at the plaza,” said the protesters. Addressing the protesters, Gadinadu Rakshana Vedike President Siddiq Talapady said that, if the authorities fail to fulfil the demand and make FASTag mandatory, then the protest will be continued. “The authorities have failed to complete the four-laning of the National Highway 66 and service roads. The team of forest officials led by Shankaranarayana Range Forest Officer Chidanandappa had been attempting to capture the leopard for the past one week. Read More...Mangaluru, 15 March 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The old bridge across Phalguni river on NH 66 at Kuloor will be closed for repair works from March 16. Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh in an order issued on March 13, has banned the movement of all vehicles on the old bridge. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has plans to repair the old bridge, which is in a deteriorating condition. The repair works of the bridge will be taken up by G S Arad Constructions. It is necessary to ban the movement of the vehicles to facilitate the repair works. A spot inspection in this regard was conducted by the Mangaluru City Police and suggested that alternative routes can be arranged for the convenience of public, the DC said.
