Philippine president 'hopeful' over upcoming referendum

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte expressed confidence Friday that a plebiscite would pass on the ratification of a law expected to bring greater autonomy to the predominantly Muslim southern regions of the archipelago. According to local reports, Duterte said in a speech there was “every reason” to believe the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) would pass. Pakistan: Ex-premier barred from traveling abroad

KARACHI, 06 Feb 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Pakistani authorities have barred a former premier facing trial in a multimillion dollar corruption case from traveling abroad, local media reported. Yousaf Raza Gilani, who served as premier from 2008 to 2012, was stopped late Tuesday by security authorities at Lahore airport from leaving for a conference in South Korea, local broadcaster Geo News reported.
