Death toll from Sunday’s Indonesian quake rises to 387
JAKARTA, 11 August July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The death toll from Sunday’s earthquake that rocked eastern Indonesia has reached 387 on Saturday, local authorities said. In a news conference, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for Indonesia’s disaster management agency, said nearly 14,000 people were also injured in the earthquake, while more than 387,000 people were evacuated to safe areas. Nugroho said: “387 dead, 13.688 injured, and 387.067 displaced people. 67,875 houses, 468 schools, 6 bridges, 3 hospitals, 10 children's clinics, 15 mosques, 50 musholas, and 20 office buildings are damaged.” While the search and rescue operations are ongoing, the officials call for donations to provide food and drinking water to the victims. Indonesia: Eruptions recorded on volcanic island
ANKARA, 07 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: At least 348 eruptions were recorded in the past 24 hours in Indonesia’s Anak Krakatau island, the met office said on Saturday. According to a statement from the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), the smoke from the volcano -- which is located in the region of Lampung province -- reached a height of up to 200 meters. Sounds around the volcano and small-scale vibrations were recorded, the statement added. A warning was issued for those living nearby to move to safe places. Pakistani premier to pay official visit to China
ISLAMABAD, 01 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay a five-day visit to the Chinese capital of Beijing on Thursday, according to the Foreign Ministry. Khan's first official visit to China after assuming office in August will happen upon the invitation of the Chinese leadership. According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry, Khan will hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang and participate in the inauguration of the first China International Import Expo being held in Shanghai.
