Drop in COVID-19 cases in Iran no excuse to lower guard

TEHRAN, 20 Apr 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: On April 14, the single-day death toll in Iran from the novel coronavirus dropped to double-digit figures for the first time in a month, giving the nation’s overburdened health workers a great psychological boost. From 151 single-day fatalities less than two weeks ago to 73 on Saturday, cases have dropped considerably and consistently, except for April 9 and 10, when the curve briefly tilted upwards. New infections have also come down from a single-day peak of 3,186 cases on March 30 to 1,343 on April 19, marking a significant drop. The total number of recoveries as of April 19 are 57,023. 2 Gazans martyred by Israeli gunfire

GAZA, 07 May 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Two Palestinians were martyred by Israeli gunfire on border of the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to the Health Ministry. Mohamed Khaled, 20, and Bahaa Abdel-Rahman, 23, were martyred when Israeli forces opened fire in Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said in a statement. The Israeli army, for its part, said opened fire on three people trying to cross a security fence on border between Gaza and Israel. According to an army spokesman, two of the three “infiltrators” had been killed.
