Over 29,000 children killed in Syria since 2011: NGO

ANKARA, 21 Nov 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: More than 29,000 children have been killed since the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011, said a report by a London-based rights watchdog. In a report released on the occasion of World Children’s Day on Wednesday, the Syrian Network for Human Rights said it documented deaths of 22,753 children by forces of the Assad regime and allied Iran-backed terrorist groups. At least 186 children were killed by regime's chemical attacks and 305 died due to malnutrition and medicine shortages in the areas besieged by the regime. Coronavirus: Death toll in Iran rises to 145

ANKARA, 08 March 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The death toll in Iran from the coronavirus has climbed to 145, the country's Health Ministry announced on Saturday. As many as 21 more people died of the COVID-19 disease as 1,076 new cases were reported across the country in the last 24 hours, spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour told a news conference in the capital Tehran. The latest figure brought the total number of infections to 5,823, said Jahanpour. Most of the new cases, he added, were in the provinces of Tehran, Qom, Gilan, Isfahan, Alborz, Markazi, and Qazvin. Iran: Death toll from coronavirus climbs to 724

ISTANBUL, 16 March 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The death toll from the novel coronavirus outbreak in Iran rose to 724, state TV reported on Sunday. Authorities said 113 people died in the last 24 hours, while 1,209 new cases emerged, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 13,938, Iran's state TV quoted Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour as saying. A total of 4,590 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus, Jahanpour added. The first case of the coronavirus in the country was confirmed in Qom province on Feb. 19. Turkey, which has only six confirmed cases of coronavirus, closed its land borders and suspended air travel to Iran last month.
