Palestinian ‘Right of Return’ is no empty slogan: Hamas

GAZA CITY, 31 Mar 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Palestinian “Right of Return” is more than just an empty slogan, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh asserted on Friday. “The ‘right of return’ isn’t just a mere slogan to be repeated ad nauseam,” Haniyeh declared on the sidelines of ongoing mass rallies near the Gaza Strip’s eastern border with Israel. “Rather,” he added, “we’re working to make it a reality.” Tens of thousands of Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip converged on the border on Friday to reaffirm their right to return to their homes in historical Palestine. “There is no solution to the Palestinian national cause except a return to our land occupied in 1948,” Haniyeh asserted. Saudi Arabia to host Gulf conference on supporting Jordan

RIYADH/AMMAN, 10 Jun 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Saudi Arabia will host a special conference on Sunday aimed at charting a course for Jordan out of its economic crisis. King Salman called the meeting in Makkah after a series of street protests in Amman over planned austerity measures culminated in the resignation of Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki. His successor, Omar Al-Razzaz, a former World Bank economist, announced on Thursday that a controversial IMF-backed income tax bill would be withdrawn.   Sunday’s conference will be attended by representatives from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait and Jordan “to discuss means of supporting Jordan to overcome its current crisis,”  the Saudi Press Agency said. Sudanese president dissolves government citing economy

KHARTOUM, 10 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: President Omer Al-Bashir on Sunday evening dissolved the government of the National Unity, according to the Sudan news agency, SUNA. The agency reported that Bashir informed the high coordination committee of the national dialogue that he had dissolved the government. “President Bashir has informed the high coordination committee of the national dialogue that he dissolved the government at the presidential and ministerial levels,” it said. The report attributed the decision to the economic difficulties that faced the government, adding the ministries will be decreased from 31 to 21. “The decision is part of austerity measures to overcome the economic difficulties that face the Sudanese nation,” it said.
