US cuts aid to hospitals in East Jerusalem

ANKARA, 08 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The U.S. has cut funding for hospitals that mainly serve Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli daily Haaretz reported on Saturday.  The Donald Trump administration cut more than $20 million in aid to hospitals in Israel-occupied city, according to the newspaper.  The cut is part of the administration’s broader approach of cutting aid to the Palestinians, a U.S. State Department official told Haaretz.  On Thursday, Trump said that he stopped paying money to the Palestinians until they reach a peace deal with Israel.  "I stopped massive amounts of money that we were paying to the Palestinians and the Palestinian leaders. UNRWA funding cut to settle refugees in Lebanon: Aoun

BEIRUT, 11 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Monday that the U.S. decision to cut funding for the UN refugee agency UNRWA was the beginning to settle Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.  Speaking to reporters during his flight from Lebanon to France, Aoun said he will discuss the UNRWA issue during his visit to the European Parliament.  “This issue could form the start for settling (refugees in Lebanon), which is banned by the Lebanese Constitution and rejected by the Lebanese people,” he said.  Aoun arrived in Strasbourg on Monday for a three-day visit upon an invitation by Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament.  During the visit, Aoun will discuss relations between Lebanon and the EU as well as a host of regional and international issues.  Last month,

Europe’s central banks to open channel for Iran

TEHRAN, 29 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Iranian foreign minister announced Friday that the central banks of certain European countries had agreed to form special financial channels to ease trade with Iran . Foreign minister Javad Zarif stated that seven national central banks had agreed to form a special mechanism and praised the efforts put forth by France, Germany, Russia, the U.K. and EU officials. “In a following step, the European central banks will upgrade the mechanism to a corporate structure," Zarif said.
