Delhi HC directs police to take remanded Kashmiri student to exam hall

Delhi, 03 May 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: A Kashmiri student who was arrested on charges of hacking around 500 websites, will be now able to appear in his MCA Examination. Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed police to take Adil Teeli to examination hall at an institute in Punjab’s Jalandhar. A division bench of Justices S Muralidhar and I S Mehta observed that the Kashmiri student was taken into custody on the orders of deputy metropolitan magistrate until May 7 from April 29. The High Court passed the directions after hearing the parties. Counsel who appeared for the police, Rahul Mehra, said that they did not know about Teeli had the examination that begins on May 2. Day after 11 killed, Madras HC halts expansion of Sterlite copper plant

Chennai, 23 May 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Day after 11 people were killed in anti-sterlite protest in Tamil Nadu, the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday stayed Sterlite Copper's expansion in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin). The company had filed an application in February this year to obtain environmental clearance to expand its plant in the coastal city. The expansion would have entailed doubling of the capacity of the smelter to 800,000 tonnes per year. The agitation which entered the 100th day on Tuesday, saw 15,000 people march towards the collectorate demanding closure of the plant. New Delhi, 12 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Supreme Court on Wednesday came down heavily on the Centre and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for not being able to protect the iconic Taj Mahal, asking to “shut it down” or “demolish or restore” the Mughal structure. The apex court was unhappy as the Uttar Pradesh government failed to come out with a vision document to protect the Taj Mahal. A bench of Justice Madan B.
