Cops attack youth for not wearing mask; family says its because of him being Muslim

New Delhi, 29 July 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: A 22-year-old blogger in Surat, Gujarat is currently critical in a comatose state after he was brutally thrashed by the police for not wearing a mask. The family, however, claims that he is beaten up because of his Muslim identity. The youth identified as Samir Ansari is from Umra village in Gujarat’s Surat district. The incident took place on July 22. Samir’s elder brother Tanveer Ansari was quoted as saying by Maktoob Media: “At around 9:10 pm on 22 July, Ammi (mother) called to Samir’s mobile phone to come home for dinner. The bell rang but he didn’t attend the call. Following several attempts, police picked up Ammi’s call and told us that Samir’s vehicle met with an accident and he was admitted to Civil Hospital. India logs 45,083 new COVID-19 cases, 460 fatalities; active infections near 3.7 lakh mark

New Delhi, 29 Aug 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: India added 45,083 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,26,95,030, while active cases registered an increase for the fifth consecutive day, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday. The death toll has climbed to 4,37,830 with 460 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am. The active cases have increased to 3,68,558 comprising 1.13 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.53 per cent, the ministry said. An increase of 8,783 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. Over 600 prominent citizens condemn Ed raids on Mandar home and offices
