No ministry, fishermen sore with Centre

Mangaluru, 06 Feb 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Although the Union budget has promised them a separate fisheries department and loans at 2 per cent interest,  fishermen here are unhappy that their long standing demands for a separate ministry of fisheries and their inclusion in the scheduled tribe list has not been met yet again. Noting that the fisheries sector not only provides huge employment along the state's coast, but also fetches thousands of crores in foreign exchange through  export of fish, the fishermen believe it should no longer be part of the agriculture ministry, and is entitled to a ministry of its own. Haveri: Rahul Gandhi blames BJP for JeM chief Masood Azhar's release

Haveri, 09 Mar 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday blamed the BJP for setting free Masood Azhar, chief of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed, in 1999. "My questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are: Who killed the CRPF soldiers? Who is the chief of JeM -- it is Masood Azhar. It was BJP that escorted him back from an Indian jail," Gandhi said at a rally at Municipal Grounds in this Karnataka town, about 350km from state capital Bengaluru. Udupi RTO and agent trapped by ACB receiveing bribe

Udupi, 17 Mar 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) R M Varnekar and a broker were  trapped  red-handed while receiving bribe from a car owner during a raid conducted by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) from Bengaluru here on Saturday, March 16. Apparently, the car owner identified as Vignesh had applied for documents from the district transport office after his car was burnt down in a fire incident during air show in Bengaluru recently. However, the RTO Varnekar allegedly demanded money to issue the required documents. The ACB have identified the accused as R.M. Vernekar, Deputy Commissioner of Transport, and Munna alias Munaaf, a broker.   The ACB team raided the RTO chamber, when the amount demanded as bribe was being handed over.
