Will incorporate 'Karnataka-occupied areas' into Maharashtra: CM Uddhav Thackeray
BENGALURU, 17 Jan 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said his government is committed towards incorporating into the state the areas of Karnataka where Marathi-speaking people are in majority. This will be the "true tribute" to martyrs of the cause, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a tweet. Maharashtra claims Belgaum and some other areas, part of the erstwhile Bombay Presidency but currently in Karnataka, on linguistic grounds. South India's first organic farming university may come up in Karnataka
BENGALURU, 13 Feb 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: If everything goes well, Karnataka will get its first organic farming university at Shivamogga in Karnataka. Agriculture Minister BC Patil said there is a proposal to set up Organic Farming University in the state similar to the ones in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. Speaking at the organic farming review meeting, Patil said people are tending towards organic produce and it is in demand. This is high time we gave priority to organic farming. There are organic farming universities in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. There are demands and suggestions from Organic Farming Committee members to set up a similar university in Shivamogga. "We will discuss and proceed," he said. The Minister further said as due to the use of chemical fertilizer, the health of the soil is being deteriorated.

First KFD case of the year reported from Siddapura in Uttara Kannada
Siddapura, 22 Feb 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Kyananur Forest Disease (KFD) which is popularly known as monkey disease was under total control all these days in this summer. Since June 2020, no case has been reported from any of the Malanad districts of the state. However, first confirmed KFD case has now been reported from Siddapura in Uttara Kannada district. A 51 years old woman tested positive for the KFD and she has been rushed to a private hospital in Manipal. According to the authorities, on February 14 she had developed fever at first. As her health deteriorated, she was rushed to the private hospital in Manipal where now it is confirmed that she has KFD.
