Heavy rain pounds Karnataka, flood alert in affected districts

Bengaluru, 16 Aug 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: With the coastal and other districts of Karnataka receiving heavy rain a flood alert has been sounded in the southern state, officials said on Wednesday, August 15. According to the State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, coastal Udupi district received up to 35.7 cm rain in certain parts over the past 24 hours. Other coastal districts like Dakshina Kannada received 33.8 cm rain, Uttara Kannada 33.6 cm, south interior districts of Kodagu 28.8 cm, Chikkamagaluru 25.1 cm, Hassan 24.5 cm and Shivamogga 33.6 cm. Bengaluru: Without any notice, BBMP demolishes 400 houses overnight

Bengaluru, 20 Aug 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: In an overnight operation, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) demolished 400 tin-roofed houses at Kariyammana Agrahara near Bellandur saying that it violated the buffer zone regulations. As many as 1,500 people lost roofs over their heads in the operation carried out by BBMP authorities on August 18. Enroll your names in voters list by Nov 20: CEO Sanjeev Kumar

Bengaluru, 11 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: As those, who complete 18 years as on January 2019, were eligible for exercising their votes in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, they should enroll themselves by November 20, said Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar.
