TAL ABYAD, 17 Feb 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: At least four civilians were killed in a bomb attack in northern Syria, a security source said on Sunday.

According to initial reports, the attack was carried out using a bomb-laden truck in Tal Abyad district, said the source, who asked not to be named due to the restrictions on talking to the media.

Meanwhile, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said two innocent civilians were killed and five others were wounded after YPG/PKK terrorists detonated a car bomb in Tal Abayad.

“The perpetrator was captured alive along with another terrorist who came to the area with a bomb rigged vehicle for a second attack,” the ministry said in a Twitter post.

Tal Abyad was cleared of terrorists in October by Turkey's anti-terror Operation Peace Spring, launched to eliminate YPG/PKK terrorists from east of the Euphrates River to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees, and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

Since then, Turkey reached agreements with both the U.S. and Russia to force the terrorist YPG/PKK to withdraw from the planned terror-free zone.

However, the YPG/PKK terrorists continue attacks in Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ayn districts despite pulling out of areas under a deal reached by Turkey and the U.S. on Oct. 17.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the PKK's Syrian offshoot.
