KABUL, 05 August 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: An improvised explosive device targeting a private TV channel van killed two people in Afghanistan's capital Kabul on Sunday, an official confirmed.

Nusrat Rahimi, Interior Ministry spokesman, told Anadolu Agency the van was blown up by a magnetic IED attached to it, killing the driver and a passerby and injuring three people, including two staffers of the private station.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

Two months ago, the Taliban warned all media outlets to avoid airing or publishing “propaganda'' against their fighters.

In January 2016, the Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide car bombing aimed at leading private news channel Tolo News that killed seven journalists.

According to Reporters Without Borders’ World Press Freedom Index, the situation of media in Afghanistan has “worsened.” Three journalists have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
