Trump signs Caesar Act sanctioning Syrian regime

WASHINGTON, 21 Dec 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: U.S. President Donald Trump signed a Syria sanctions bill as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the 2020 defense budget. The bill, Caesar Syrian Civilian Protection Act of 2019, authorizes additional sanctions and financial restrictions on institutions and individuals doing business with the Syrian regime. The act is named after a Syrian military photographer who leaked tens of thousands of gruesome pictures of 11,000 victims who were systematically tortured to death by the Bashar al-Assad regime. 737 Max: US House search faults Boeing, aviation agency

ANKARA, 07 March 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Boeing's troubled 737 Max aircraft development process was "marred" by technical problems, lack of transparency, according to a preliminary congressional report released Friday. The report, which was written by the staff of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, also accused the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of "failing its duty to identify key safety problems and to ensure that they were adequately addressed during the certification process," calling the agency's review "grossly insufficient". COVID-19: Greece suspends travel to Turkey, UK

ANKARA, 23 Mar 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: Greece is suspending all travels to Turkey and the U.K. to stem the spread of COVID-19, local media reported Monday.  The Health Ministry announced the decision Sunday night in the official gazette, Greek daily Ekathimerini reported. Flights are banned from Monday 6 a.m. local time (0400GMT) until April 15, it added. Ekathimerini also said the Greek government is planning to suspend all international flights after Greek citizens abroad return to the country. According to U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University, Greece has 624 confirmed COVID-19 cases and the virus claimed 15 victims so far.
