Bhatkal: Happy Islamic New Year, Today first day of Muharram 1443 AH

Bhatkal, 10 Aug 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The moon-sighting committee and Qazis of the Bhatkal announced that the first day of Muharram 1443 AH (Anno Hegirae in Latin or “in the year of the Hijra”) will be on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. According to the Ummul Qura calendar (Hijri calendar), Monday, August 9, 2021 is the first day of Muharram 1443. The committee said the crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the new Islamic year-1443 AH, has not been seen on Sunday evening. Highly qualified women taking up constable jobs in Karnataka

Bengaluru, 29 Sep 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Call it a dire need to get a government job or a passion to work in police force -- highly qualified women are willing to serve as police constables in the state. Of the total 242 recruits of the sixth batch of the Police Training School who finished their training and took part in the passing out parade ceremony on here on Tuesday, 38 were postgraduates while 182 of them were graduates. While the minimum qualification was PUC, more candidates with a degree and post graduate degree had cleared the exam and underwent eight-month-long training. Mallikarjun Kharge demands probe in Lakhimpur Kheri incident by sitting SC judge

Bengaluru, 07 Oct 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Wednesday sought a probe by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident that left eight people dead.   Speaking to the media at the KPCC office here, the senior Congress leader demanded that Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Theni be sacked for “misrepresentation of facts” and also pressed for the immediate arrest of his son Ashish.
