Kerala: Where has all the water gone?

Kochi, 13 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: From floods to a dry spell, there’s no in between for Kerala, which is bearing the brunt of the thoughtless degradation of forest cover and wetlands in the Western Ghats region. With rising temperatures and the rapid depletion of groundwater levels hitting the state just weeks after it experienced the worst floods in nearly a decade, the Kerala government is likely to commission a survey. “The fall in water levels in the rivers and wells is an indication of the escalation of the runoff due to the decline of natural conservation areas in the region,” said Dr P.V. New Delhi, 30 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Upset over the adjournment in the Ayodhya title suit case, Swami Chakrapani threatened that the Hindu Mahasabha would stage a protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) if an ordinance is not brought by the government on the issue of Ram Temple within 30 days. “The Supreme Court should have given this (hearing on Ram Temple) importance, is homosexuality more important than this? This is unfortunate. The decision should be taken as soon as possible. In 2014 we supported the BJP on condition than Ram Mandir will be constructed, there would be laws for Gau Raksha, and Article 370 in JK would be revoked. In 2014 there was majority, even after that, there has not been any ordinance on Ram Temple. This is a betrayal for Hindus,” Chakrapani
