India’s first Coast Guard academy to come up at Mangaluru
Mangaluru, 20 Sep 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: India’s first Coast Guard academy will be established at Mangaluru, Defence Spokesperson (PRO) Bengaluru said on Saturday. Around 158 acres Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) land has been taken over for setting up ICG Academy. "India’s first Coast Guard academy to come up at Mangaluru. 158 acres KIADB land taken over for setting up #ICGAcademy. A milestone towards professional maritime training to ICG officers & men & stakeholders," said Defence Spokesperson (PRO) Bengaluru in a tweet.

Another FIR against Siddaramaiah for remark against Kodavas
BENGALURU, 12 Jan 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: A new FIR has been filed against former CM Siddaramaiah in Kodagu. Earlier, the President of Western Ghats Task Force Ravi Kushalappa had lodged an FIR against him in Madikeri police station for his derogatory comment against the Kodava community. Now, a new FIR has been lodged by former ZP member Kanthi Satish at Virajpet police station. Siddaramaiah, in a tweet and at a public function, claimed that Kodavas are ‘beef eaters’ and this has hurt the sentiments of the community, following which Satish filed a complaint. Both the FIRs have been forwarded to Ashokapuram police station in Mysuru. COVID-19: 334 new cases in Karnataka, 6 deaths
Bengaluru, 25 Feb 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: Karnataka on Wednesday reported 334 new cases of COVID-19 and 6 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 9,49,183 and the death toll to 12,309, the Health department said. A department bulletin said number of discharges went up to 9,30,778 with 313 patients getting discharged after recovery today. According to the bulletin, out of 6,077 active cases, 5,955 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and stable, while 122 are in ICU. A total of over 1,84,94,364 samples have been tested so far, out of which 63,042 were tested on Wednesday alone, and 5,343 among them were rapid antigen tests.
