Mangaluru, 12 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The railway administration of Southern Railway has come up with a project to beautify its important stations. Mangaluru Central, with paintings depicting local culture, traditions and tourist attractions is set to materialise. Right now a good start has been made with one beautiful painting done at the Central Railway Station on the slopes in front of the Railway Mail Service (RMS) Centre. The painting, done by a teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya during his free time, depicts Mangaluru beaches and water sports. Public Relations Officer of railways stated that the premises of the Kannur and Palakkad stations too are being beautified with paintings. As usual, the presentation of Rajyotsava awards would be held on November 1. But due to by-election on November 3, the programme was postponed and it was said that the programme would be held on November 15. But due to some confusions in selecting the personalities for the awards, it was said that the awards presentation programme would be held by this month end. Auto Drivers Union of Dakshina Kannada district has supported the call. Movement of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses is likely to be affected.
