Mangaluru central railway station set to display art soon
Mangaluru, 12 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The railway administration of Southern Railway has come up with a project to beautify its important stations. Mangaluru Central, with paintings depicting local culture, traditions and tourist attractions is set to materialise. Right now a good start has been made with one beautiful painting done at the Central Railway Station on the slopes in front of the Railway Mail Service (RMS) Centre. The painting, done by a teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya during his free time, depicts Mangaluru beaches and water sports. Public Relations Officer of railways stated that the premises of the Kannur and Palakkad stations too are being beautified with paintings. Rajyotsava awards to be presented on November 25
Bengaluru, 15 Nov 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The presentation of Rajyotsava awards which was postponed due to by-election, is likely to be held on November 25. As usual, the presentation of Rajyotsava awards would be held on November 1. But due to by-election on November 3, the programme was postponed and it was said that the programme would be held on November 15. But due to some confusions in selecting the personalities for the awards, it was said that the awards presentation programme would be held by this month end. In view of the 63rd Kannada Rajyotsava, the government may restrict the number of Rajyotsava awards to 63 and the Karnataka High Court has given a direction in this regard. Normal life in coast may be affected by Bharat Bandh on Jan 8 & 9
Mangaluru, 07 Jan 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The call for 'Bharat Bandh' given by various labour organizations in pursuance of various demands on January 8 and 9 is likely to have adverse affect in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts too. Auto Drivers Union of Dakshina Kannada district has supported the call. Movement of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation buses is likely to be affected. Organization of Unorganized Labourers has supported the bandh call as a result of which, movement of private buses may be affected. Owners of city buses and other private buses will take a decision on the issue today. They are convening a meeting to discuss the matter on Monday.
