Plans for Syria safe zone mirror Turkey’s 1998 deal

ANKARA, 02 Nov 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Now that Turkey has struck major deals with Russia and the U.S. for a long-planned safe zone in Syria, a 1998 anti-terrorism agreement between Damascus and Ankara has once again made headlines. Signed in Turkey’s southern city of Adana, the agreement was aimed at easing Ankara’s concerns over the presence of the PKK terror group in Syria. In its decades-long terror campaign, the PKK has killed 40,000 people in Turkey, including women, children and infants. Soleimani's death undermines moderates in Iran: Analysts

Palestinians confirm first coronavirus cases in Gaza

GAZA, 22 March 2020 [Fik/News Sources]: The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed the first two cases of coronavirus in the Gaza Strip. Two people tested positive for the virus after returning from Pakistan, health official Yusuf Abo al-Reish told a press conference in Gaza City early Sunday.  He said the two patients have been quarantined after crossing the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt on Thursday. Home to around 2 million people, the Gaza Strip has been reeling under a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007. Palestinian authorities have already reported 53 coronavirus cases in the occupied West Bank, including 17 recoveries.
