Bangladesh to send over 500 fishermen back to India

DHAKA, 14 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Bangladesh will hand over more than 500 fishermen to Indian water border authority after they crossed the Bangladesh sea border, said an official to Anadolu Agency on Sunday.  A total of 519 fishermen who have been under Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) custody for crossing into Bangladesh’s territorial waters in Patuakhali, a district in south-central Bangladesh, will be sent back to their country in due procedure, public relations officer of BCG, Lt Commander M Hamidul Islam, told Anadolu Agency. “The Bangladeshi foreign ministry and other relevant agencies have already held meetings with the related Indian authorities, and the fishermen will be handed over to Indian Coast Guard soon after the current rough sea weather clears up,” he added. Turkey urges unconditional NATO support against terror

ANKARA, 03 Dec 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Ahead of NATO's summit in London, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday called for unconditional support of the alliance in fight against terrorism. Speaking to reporters at Ankara's Esenboga International Airport before his departure for the meeting, Erdogan said the member states should work to strengthen NATO in the face of common threats, instead of seeking alternatives. Turkish maritime pact with Libya goes into effect

ANKARA, 08 Dec 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Turkey’s landmark pact with Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) setting out the countries’ Eastern Mediterranean maritime boundaries went into effect Saturday with its publication in Turkey’s Official Gazette.  Signed on Nov. 27 and passed by Turkey's parliament this Thursday, the memorandum determining both countries' marine jurisdictions rejects unilateral and illegal activities by other regional countries and international firms and aims to protect the rights of both countries.
