2 US service members killed in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, 30 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Two U.S. service members were killed Monday in Afghanistan, the NATO-led mission in the country said. Operation Resolute Support did not offer additional details about the attack but multiple U.S. media reports said the members were killed in a suspected "green on blue attack," or an attack by an Afghan soldier on U.S. troops. The apparent insider attack comes amid President Donald Trump's effort to wind down U.S. forces from Afghanistan in tandem with peace talks aimed at ending the 18-year conflict there. Algerian protesters mark 65th independence anniversary

ALGIERS, 03 Nov 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Algerian protesters on Friday marked the 65th anniversary of Independence War as weekly demonstrations take place for the 37th Friday. Demonstrations which began late Thursday coincided with official celebrations of the Algerian revolution against French colonialism on Nov. 1, 1954. The Algerian War of Independence took place between 1954 and 1962 and ended with the departure of French colonialism after 130 years of occupation. Demonstrations with remarkably higher turnout were witnessed in capital Algiers and other Algerian cities in response to calls for participation by activists. Climate Change conference ends in disappointment

MADRID, 16 Dec 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The 25th UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) disappointed expectations with its final decision released Saturday after protracted negotiations among participating delegations.  Talks were extended two days for the representatives of 197 UN member countries to agree on a final statement after official meetings of the COP25 on December 2-13.
