‘Turkey wants to be in solidarity with Russia on defense’

Ankara, 28 August 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Ankara wants to maintain solidarity with Russia in the defense industry, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday. "We want to continue our solidarity [with Russia] in many areas of the defense industry. It can be on passenger or fighter aircraft. The whole thing is the spirit of solidarity," Erdogan said at a news conference with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Earlier Tuesday, Erdogan and Putin attended the inauguration ceremony of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2019, one of the world’s leading events in its field. Pakistan: Marchers stopped short of Kashmir border

ISLAMABAD, 07 Oct 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Pakistani authorities Sunday evening halted hundreds of Kashmiris belonging to a pro-independence group from approaching the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border that divides disputed Kashmir between Pakistan and Indian. The protesters gathered on Friday in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani-administered Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and by Sunday the "Freedom March" had reached the Jiskool area, located some 13 kilometers (8 miles) from the Line of Control. Sri Lanka tightens security ahead of presidential polls

COLOMBO, 16 Nov 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Sri Lanka has tightened security across the South Asian island as nearly 16 million people will go to the polls on Saturday to elect a new President.  Ruwan Gunasekara, a police spokesman, told Anadolu Agency that a total of 60,175 police personnel will be on duty on Saturday. “We are providing sufficient security by also dispatching over 3,000 mobile units, and also deploying an anti-riot squad,” he said.
