Hong Kong: Thousands march over extradition bill

ANKARA, 10 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Hong Kong on Sunday to protest the government’s controversial extradition bill, local media reported. Protesters led-by the Civil Human Rights Front movement marched against proposed amendments to the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance which would allow suspected criminals to be sent to China for trial, reported daily South China Morning Post. The ongoing demonstrations are expected to be the largest since pro-democracy Umbrella Movement rallies in 2014, where protesters used umbrellas to shield against pepper spray by police. Muslim insurgent group says it met with Thai government

Thailand, 17 August 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The main group fighting an insurgency in Thailand’s largely Muslim south said it had held its first meeting with officials from the new Thai government and had set out demands as a condition for any formal peace talks. The insurgency in the Malay-speaking region of the predominantly Buddhist country has killed some 7,000 people over the past 15 years and has flared on and off for decades. Google, Gmail down for some in US

WASHINGTON, 20 August 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Google and its Gmail service were temporarily down Monday with thousands of users across the U.S. affected. The bulk of outages appear to have taken place in major cities on the west and east coasts, including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Boston, according to the Downdetector website, which tracks website and web service outages.
