Libya national conference to be held as set: UN envoy

TRIPOLI, 07 Apr 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Libya's UN-backed “national dialogue” conference will be held as scheduled unless "compelling circumstances" force its postpone, the UN envoy said Saturday. "Convening the conference in these conditions is tough but we have the desire to hold it as scheduled in mid-April, unless compelling circumstances force us to postpone it," Ghassan Salame said at a news conference held in capital Tripoli. Salame pointed out that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres was surprised by the military escalation and informed all sides that the UN urges return to the political peace process. Israel arrested 905 Palestinians in March, April: NGOs

RAMALLAH, 13 May 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Israeli army arrested around 905 Palestinians, including 133 children and 23 women, in the month of March and April, according to a report. The figures came in a joint report issued by the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees, Palestinian Prisoners Society, and Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association. According to the report, Israel continues to detain about 250 children and minors in its prisons. While the number of women detainees stands at 45, the total number of detainees in prisons amounted to 5,700, it said. Egypt, Jordan, Morocco to join US Mideast peace meeting

WASHINGTON, 12 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Egypt, Jordan and Morocco have told the U.S. they will attend a Middle East peace conference planned for later this month, a White House official confirmed to Anadolu Agency Tuesday.
