Israel arrests 24 Palestinians in West Bank raids

RAMALLAH, 04 Dec 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Israeli forces rounded up 24 Palestinians in overnight raids carried out across the occupied West Bank, according to a Palestinian NGO on Tuesday.  In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said ten people were arrested in raids in the cities of Bethlehem and Hebron in the southern West Bank.  Nine more Palestinians, including two children, were detained in the cities of Nablus and Tubas, the NGO said.  Israeli forces also arrested five people in raids in the city of Ramallah and the town of Hizma, north of east Jerusalem.  The Israeli military has yet to issue a statement on the arrests. Bomb attack in southeastern Yemen kills six

SANAA, 29 Jan 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: At least six people were killed and 20 injured late Monday in a bomb attack in southeastern Yemen.  An explosive device went off in front of a restaurant near a military vehicle in Al-Maha district in Taiz province, said a military official who requested anonymity because he was unauthorized to speak to the media.  The dead included an Abu Dhabi TV reporter.  There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack and no official statement.  Impoverished Yemen has remained wracked by violence since 2014, when Shia Houthi rebels overran much of the country, including the capital Sanaa.  The conflict escalated in 2015 when Saudi Arabia and its Sunni-Arab allies launched a devastating air campaign in Yemen aimed at rolling back Houthi gains.  The ongoing violence

Israel inaugurates embassy in Rwanda

JERUSALEM, 02 Apr 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Israel on Monday opened an embassy in Rwanda, its 11th diplomatic mission in Africa, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry. In a Monday statement, it said that Foreign Ministry Director-General Yuval Rotem had “inaugurated the Israeli embassy in Rwandan capital Kigali in a symbol of Israel’s return to Africa”. The move, the statement added, “reflects Israel’s policy of returning to Africa, which was articulated three years ago by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after which he visited the continent on four separate occasions and established diplomatic relations with Chad and Guinea”.
