Israel concludes wargames envisaging war with Hezbollah

JERUSALEM, 06 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The Israeli army on Thursday announced the conclusion of military exercises simulating combat scenarios with Lebanon’s Hezbollah militia. According to an army statement, the drills included airborne exercises, helicopter and fighter maneuvers, and tank and artillery training. The wargames also simulated close-range urban warfare scenarios and rugged-terrain combat. UN official slams US red line policy on Idlib

GENEVA, 13 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: A UN official criticized the U.S. on Wednesday on its “red line” policy, stating that the red line for the UN would be “any attacks on the civilian population” in Idlib.  "Civilians have been sacrificed in the fight against terror and in the efforts of the of the state to regain control over the country,” said UN's Hanny Megally in a news conference in Geneva. Kuwaiti emir decries foreign meddling in Iraq's affairs

BAGHDAD, 27 Sep 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah on Wednesday voiced his rejection of any foreign interference in Iraq’s internal affairs. The emir made the remarks during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi in Kuwait City, according to a statement issued by al-Halbousi’s office. The statement quoted al-Sabah as saying that his country "supports the unity and stability of Iraq and rejects any interference in its internal affairs”. He also expressed optimism regarding Iraq’s ability to elect a new president -- which is slated to happen on Oct. 2 -- and draw up a viable government.
