In a statement, the association said that 120 detainees were currently taking part in the hunger-strike. “And hundreds more are expected to join in days ahead,” it said. The hunger strike was prompted by an Israeli decision to equip prisons with signal-jamming devices with the ostensible aim of preventing inmates from smuggling cellphones into detention facilities. Read More...RAMALLAH, 15 May 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said Tuesday that his government is ready for reconciliation with Hamas. “The Palestinian government and Palestinian movement Fatah are ready for reconciliation with [the Islamic resistance movement] Hamas,” Shtayyeh said during a meeting with Hanna Nasser, the head of the Palestinian Elections Commission. “The division is a black chapter in our Palestinian history, and if our perspectives of reconciliation with Hamas are different, let the people decide through elections," he said.
