Gazans strike in protest of US-led Bahrain meeting
GAZA, 25 June 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip staged a general strike on Tuesday in protest of a U.S.-led conference in Bahrain. U.S. officials are expected to unveil the economic portion of its back-channel Middle East peace plan known as “deal of the century” during the two-day conference, which is due to open in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Tuesday. US House overwhelmingly approves anti-Saudi measures
WASHINGTON, 16 July 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: The House of Representatives passed two measures Monday highly critical of Saudi Arabia, with one seeking to have the U.S. impose sanctions on the Saudi officials responsible for the grisly murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. In addition to passing a resolution via voice vote that condemns Saudi Arabia's detention and alleged abuse of women's rights advocates, the House overwhelmingly approved the Saudi Arabia Human Rights and Accountability Act by a vote of 405-7. Introduced by Congressman Tom Malinowski, the act requires the Director of National Intelligence to publicly identify the persons involved in killing Khashoggi and impose visa and travel sanctions on them. Car bomb kills 3 soldiers in Yemen's Aden
ADEN, 01 August 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: At least three security personnel were killed and dozens others injured on Thursday in a car bomb attack that targeted a police station in Yemen's Aden, a police officer said. "The car bomb went off near the entrance of Sheikh Othman district's police station," a police official told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media. The attack took place while conscripts were gathering for morning assembly. According to a health source more than 20 injured persons, some of them in critical condition, were transported to the hospital of Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian group.
