Mangaluru Journalist Vijay Kotian donates award money of PaGo Award to feed hungry

Mangaluru, 03 Jan 2020 [varthabharati]: The winner of the 2019 Pa Go (Padyana Gopalakrishna) Rural Correspondent Award conferred by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalist’s Association, Journalist Vijay Kotian set an example by donating the winning award money to the Karunya Scheme run by M. Friends Charitable Trust.  Vijay Kotian, who is a senior correspondent for the Vijay Karnataka Newspaper donated a sum of Rs. 5,001 of the Award money along with an additional amount of Rs 2,499, a total of Rs 7,500 to the Karunya Scheme, through the senior journalist Arif Padubidri, the secretary of M. DJ Halli riots: State failed miserably to provide infra to claims commissioner, says HC

BENGALURU, 12 Jan 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: The State Government has failed miserably to provide infrastructure to the Claims Commissioner despite passing several orders, the Karnataka High Court said on Monday and directed the Chief Secretary to ensure effective functioning of the officer from January 18 to deal with property loss claims related to DJ Halli and KG Halli riots. Leopard electrocuted while climbing tree near Bhatkal

Bhatkal, 16 Feb 2021 [Fik/News Sources]: A leopard was electrocuted in Bhatkal after it came in contact with a live transmission line while it was climbing a tree. The incident occurred at survey no 3, Masheri village in Kekkod beat in Belke section reserve forests in Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday evening. According to the forest department, its tail came in contact with a hanging transmission line. "It was a two-year-old juvenile leopard," Ganapathi Naik, DCF Honnavat taluk, told The New Indian Express. He said that the animal came in contact with a 11 kv transmission line while it was climbing a tree. Honnavar DCF Ganapathi visited the spot and inspected the area to rule out poaching.
