Mangaluru to be developed ‘water-friendly city’: Sasikanth Senthil

Mangaluru, 30 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that the district administration has come out with a proposal to develop Mangaluru city as ‘water-friendly city’ under the Smart City Project. Addressing the corporators here on Monday, the DC said that there were plenty of opportunities to develop Mangaluru city as ‘water-friendly city’ on the lines of Mumbai and Cochin. In 8 wards in the old Mangaluru area, it was planned to introduce around 65 different schemes. The Central Government had approved the Mangaluru Water-Friendly Smart City Project in 2016 and the implementation process of the project was started from April 2017, he said. LPG Tanker topples in Bhatkal; One injured

Bhatkal, 02 Feb 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: A LPG Tanker which was on its way towards Karwar from Mangaluru toppled on NH 66 near Sarpankatte of Bhatkal on Friday (February 1) early morning. According to the reports, as soon as the tanker toppled, a passenger tempo which was plying behind the tanker , rammed into the tanker.  This has resulted in the tempo driver sustaining severe leg injuries including multiple fractures. The driver of the tanker escaped with minor injuries. The incident took place at about 6.30 am on Friday.  Bhatkal fire brigade team, taking note of the incident rushed to the spot and sealed the area before confirming that there was no leakage of the LPG. BS Yeddyurappa offered Rs 10 crore to MLAs, Rs 50 crore to Speaker, claims Congress

Bengaluru, 10 Feb 2019 [Fik/News Sources]: In a fresh attack on the BJP over alleged horse-trading to topple the H.D. Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka, the Congress on Saturday said that the BJP state unit president and former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa had offered around Rs 200 crore to 18 of its MLAs in an attempt to destabilise the ruling coalition in the state. Releasing an audio tape at a press conference here, Congress general secretary in charge of Karnataka K.C.
