Rs 196.51 crore for fishing harbour near Mangaluru

Mangaluru, 02 July 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: The much awaited all weather fisheries harbour at Kulai is likely to be a reality soon with the Central government sanctioning the Rs 196.51 crore project. The harbour will come up at Hosabettu-Kulai, in the outskirts of Mangaluru. Local fishermen had been demanding a harbour here as it would not only ease the pressure on the Old Port at Mangaluru but would also help the fishermen to take shelter during rough weather. Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the Union government has given sanction to the Rs 196.51 crore project of which 50 (Rs 98.25 crore) would be provided under Sagarmala. Udupi: City bus fares to go up by one rupee uniformly, minimum fare Rs 8

Udupi, 13 Oct 2018 [Fik/News Sources]: Udupi City Bus Owners Association said that it has been decided to hike city bus fares by one rupee across the board for all tickets. The hike will come into effect from October 15. The decision has been taken in view of steep increase in coast of operations because of frequent hike in diesel prices, it said. The association stated that as per the circular issued by the state government on bus fares, there is a provision to levy surcharge whenever there is increase in cost of diesel, oil, vehicle tax, insurance, spare parts etc. "The city buses in Mangaluru have already implemented new rates.
